Program Manager, TechFire\'s Startup Accelerator

TechFire is looking to hire a Program Manager to help lead an exciting new tech startup accelerator in the Los Angeles region. TechFire has been recognized in Techmeme\'s list of nationally-significant tech conferences, with 50+ programs in LA + SF since 2013, renowned for attracting speakers from top Silicon Valley VC firms like Sequoia Capital, Kleiner Perkins, Greylock, CRV, Lightspeed, and SV Angel; founders of accelerators like Techstars, MuckerLab, and the Disney Accelerator; successful startup founders/CEOs behind hot companies like Dollar Shave Club, Aurora, and HotelTonight; and C-level executives from companies like Warner Bros. and Honey.
Now, we\'re preparing to launch a startup accelerator and we\'re looking for a Program Manager to take on a key role alongside our founder in leading the accelerator. Prior experience with another startup accelerator, incubator, or studio is strongly preferred.
Applications for this role are preferred by Feb. 4 via Glassdoor. (Later applications may also be accepted via email directly to if the position hasn\'t already been filled.)
About the Role
The Program Manager is one half of the Accelerator program team, consisting of one operations-focused Program Manager role (that\'s you!) and a Managing Director (David C. Murphy, also Founder & CEO of TechFire\'s tech conference business).
The Program Manager (PM) role is an exciting one helping run the accelerator and helping our portfolio of startups grow to be the next big thing. You will implement the accelerator playbook, creating the best possible experience for our founders.
You will play a key role running the day to day programs for our founders (including mentoring startups, organizing talks by outside mentors, lining up meetings with angel + VC investors, handling administrative/logistical duties as needed , doing budget management and planning, recruiting more mentors / partners / investors, helping hire / train / manage seasonally hired interns and any other staff, and doing other roles as needed (we\'re a lean team so we all get the fun of doing everything!).
Experience with other accelerators is highly preferred, or at least experience in the startup/venture capital ecosystem or other experience you think lends well to this role. Event planning experience is welcome too but not required. A willingness to learn and tackle new problems is great.
About the Accelerator
There is a $1 million subsidy for accelerator operating costs (over three years) from the State of California (see glendaletechweek.com/accelerator) for an accelerator located in Glendale, which we\'re applying to receive, and which would mean the accelerator will be in Glendale\'s vibrant downtown (already home to several tech unicorns and recognized by Boston Consulting Group as a key tech hub in SoCal -- and a great place to work with an awesome assortment of lunch spots, coffeeshops, and more between Caruso\'s Americana at Brand, Porto\'s, and much more).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Together with the Managing Director, continuously refine the accelerator program plan and then own the overall responsibility for the successful execution of the accelerator program.
Implement best practices from other accelerators for helping our startups succeed, overseeing implementation of a curriculum helping founders grow their companies, and overseeing help connecting founders with mentors, partners, and investors to help them grow
Own the overall programming schedule, including scheduling mentors, speakers, investor visits, and other events
Create and track metrics (how well startups are doing, how they view our programs and how we can improve, etc)
Relationship management for TechFire\'s’ partners, including coordination with City of Glendale elected officials and staff, corporate partners, investors, and outside partners (corporates, universities, et al).
Help improve the recruiting pipeline

Engage with the local Glendale tech community, and plan broader outreach events/programs to support the broader community. Help support Glendale Tech on Tap / Glendale Tech Week events, and other outreach events
